Kate Dowman – Celtic and Classical soprano

Kate Dowman is a freelance soprano soloist based in London. She was born on the Isle of Man and surrounded by Celtic music and the mythical stories of the island, which began her love of music.

Kate read music at the University of Leeds, and continued her professional Opera training in Australia with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Her incredibly versatile voice handles large lyric opera, soft Celtic folksong or pure choral works with ease. She is a vocal actress with looks and stage presence to match.

Kate is based in London and sings with many different companies, including Opera Holland Park. She is currently recording her debut album.

Kate has recently supported Aled Jones on a Celtic tour and has performed a solo recital of opera for Madonna in her London home, for the British Prime Minister, the Mayor of London, Goldie, Esther Rantzen, the Maharaja of Jodpur, at Milan Fashion week, for the Financial Times, Bulgari and Ferrari, and has toured as far as Tokyo, Bangkok, Spain, Buenos Aires, China and St. Petersburg, in venues including the Cadogan Hall, Sydney Opera House, Tate Britain, Royal Academy of Art, a ship in Antarctica and Twickenham Rugby Stadium.

Kate is the Muse of fashion designer Vjera Vilicnik, the brand ambassador for Seksy by Sekonda watches, and is resident opera singer at Selfridges in London.

Kate is in demand as an Oratorio and Operatic soloist, as guest performer at corporate events, session work and recording, and gives regular concerts of Opera, Sacred and Celtic music around the world.

The Manx gaelic folksongs she grew up singing are never far from her heart and have inspired her own writing. A shyly gifted lyricist, Kate is working on her own material as well as singing hundreds of year's worth of other composers beautiful repertoire.

'I never know where to start when choosing repertoire for my concerts! But I do know that I will never be tired of it...my music is my soul. xx love Kate'
